Why is designing youth creative lab (YCL) so hard?

Are you excited enough about YCL to want to co-edit its most collaborative blog? rsvp chris.macrae@yahoo.co.uk washington Dc region 1 301 881 1655

Why is designing youth creative lab so difficult?

Since 9/11 This bold question has been the main one debated around networkers who remember Norman Macrae -founder in 1972 of the Net Generation curriculum of Entrepreneurial Revolution at The Economist.

The last project Norman advised began in 2005 and sponsored 10 youth to help create a birthday party wishes format around Dr Muhammad Yunus for his 69th birthday in Dhaka and for his 70th birthday celebrated as Interdependence weekend among Adam Smith scholars at Glasgow University, as well as youth sampling 2000 of dr yunus books and 10000 dvds offering early links to to the curriculum of Dr Yunus pro-youth economics -which he has called Social Business to differentiate it from the type of social entrepreneur who doesn't have a business model for youth to scale around .

1972, 1996, 1984, 2008 Keystone years in ER

Macrae's curriculum of Entrepreneurial Revolution had started back in 1972 when Bangladesh was 1 year old. At Grameen Bank, Dr Yunus specialised in designing village mothers creative lab (sixty per centre - spaces grameen created in every village it helped poorest women socially network through) until 1996. This was when mobile access (Grameen Phone) to open technology started to change his mission from banker for the poor to connector of all of the net generation's most collaborative and communally productive solutions. Also by this time, job-hungry teenagers from Grameen homes were becoming as numerous as the mothers...

Norman's 1984 book on the net generation, opposed Orwell's Big Brother Endgame by mapping micro-up systems requiring innovation at several critical crossroads of what a global village planet start-up of 21st century's by 7 billion humans can exponentially sustain. One predicted that every human possibility would depend on youth collaboration entrepreneurs' response to THE GAP IN INCOME AND EXPECTATIONS  BETWEEN THE RICH AND POOR NATIONS BEING RECOGNISED AS MAN"S MOST DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

Norman was to meet Dr Yunus once when he was guset of honor at Norman's last public birthday party in 2008- that was when they conceived Consider Bangladesh as a series of brochures for those interested in knowing what commnity bankers know that Wall Street and too big to exist banking systems have forgotten about investing in human livelihoods.

.The Economist's Macrae 22 Jan 1972 "The Next 40 Years - first survey Curriculum Entrepreneurial Revolution.
WHY SO HARD...

Every politician and media baron under the sun is advised by PR agents to say yes we will form creative spaces where youth can meet and create jobs

-though peculiarly not many go further and say we will abolish all parts of our schooling systems that block this. One reason why the 20 anti-youth monoplies list is topped by 4 monopolies of non-open education

For quite a long time it has been unfair -let alone undemocratic -  to most youth to say that if you dont stay at school and pass all exams you wont have much chance of a livelihood unless you are a superstar sporsman. Mist youth were born with talents that bey defintion are more various than that. But as norman pointed out in 1984 one of the first ways in which the inetrent would chnage everything is that about half of all most valuable knowhow goes obsolete every 10 yeras- that means people examining on aold curicula are confining even their star examinees to future pathways far away from world class innovation let alone world calss colabpration, It is posible to brainstorm many other reasons why youth creative lab are hard to design in the first instance thouygh not necessarily hard to openly franchise once a good enough model has been found.

.

So let's turn to hunting out good enough YCL models without more ado

The future of open education -valued by youth -  will advance through being twinned with YCL -as the why so hard logic clearly maps

AS the first experimeters of mobile social networks for the poor, Bangladeshi poorest villages were turned  into community labs by BRAC and Grameen for testing the most life critical innovations that mobile connectivity could bring. More recently dr yunus has showwn that even if all yoyr vilage labs are snatched from you, you only need to be a world calss connector of where youth want o plan ideas - see ycl dhaka

.

Altanta has taken up the chalenge of turning a capiatl city into :

1 being the favorite iternational soace yunus enjoys hosting YCL

2 being a benchmark twin city of million job creation with the firs capitals in afriac to achieve that - out of s.africa and kenay

The soyth african free university stystem has now extended entrepreneurship curriculum and empowement back to the whole scholling system - so that a capital like johannsburg is now capable of creating a million jobs or entrepreneurs every 5 yeras

kenya invesnted youth banking designed by someone who lved orphans enough to ant everyone of them to have a chnace to grow up entrepreneurially; at the esame time mobile cell operating bilanthrpits converghed on nairobi setting up the world's most exciting ilab, testing out cashless banking and cashless loans for lots of livelihood-producing repicable franchises as well as inventing the first twitter system to connect in your gps - very much smarter for any collaboration app including all value chains redesigned around community or amsll trader ownership
